The topics identified for the Greater Manchester Health Commission for 2009/10 are those already agreed by the Health Commission in the January 2009 meeting. The Commission will also receive regular updates on topics previously considered.

  • Advocacy on key determinants of well being, including community cohesion, social capital, economic security, engagement in local decision making, etc, and construction of evidence base of indicators and interventions to promote well being.

Economic Development and Community Cohesion - Dr. Steve Watkins, DPH Stockport.

  • Support for benefit claimants – establish better understanding of this population and range of effective interventions that the local NHS and other delivery partners (e.g. Job Centre Plus) can implement to help people manage their conditions better and where appropriate support them back into work.
